HAPPY NEW YEAR - TUESDAY - JANUARY 1, 2008

Good Tuesday Mornin' Yall,
"HAPPY NEW YEAR" everyone. I do hope that each and every one of you had a great New Year's Eve and ready to start a brand New Year. It is 33 degrees with a windchill of 23 degrees here right now. We are also under a Wind Advisory as well. It's suppose to be a windy day today, so that will make it feel alot colder than it really is. It is suppose to get down into the teens for tonight and tomorrow night also. The Sun is shinging outside as well. Today will be a good day to stay in and eat our Black-Eyed Peas.
This is a New Year for me blogging as well. Since I started in September of last year, but only got started going pretty good in October, this will be the first full year of blogging for me. I know most of you have been blogging for at least a year or longer, and I'm looking forward to my one year anniversary of blogging as well. There are still some new comers that have recently started blogging as well. Just hang in there and you will really enjoy it and you will learn how to do things along the way. I know I am still learning things and still have lots more to learn. Maybe we can all learn together.
As you know, last night was New Year's Eve. We stayed home. I was feeling very nice, LOL, and yesterday afternoon I asked my hubby if he wanted to have his brother and his girlfriend over last night and he said that would be okay. Hubby had tried calling his brother but couldn't get no answer. I tried later on and left a message on his cell phone. Hubby's brother called him last night around 6:30p.m. and hubby invited them over. They came over around 8:30p.m. and stayed till about 12:30a.m. I had fixed my Hore'derve tray of olives, baby dill pickles, cocktail sausages, shrimp, cheese squares, and we had some chips and dips as well. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve came on at 9:00p.m. CST here and then broke away at 10:00p.m. for our local news. It resumed at 10:30p.m. CST and we watched it and saw the ball drop from New York's Times Square. There sure was alot of people there. About 11:15p.m. I switched over to one of the Memphis, TN stations and watched the countdown again from New York. But they showed the ball dropping at Midnight our time. So, we all rung in the New Year together. The girls had their Apple Cider, I had my Champagne, and hubby had his bottle of beer. I only had about a half of a half a glass of Champagne. I guess since it was a cheap bottle of Champagne, the taste wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Maybe this New Year's Eve I will be able to afford a better quality bottle of Champagne. I do hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve Celebration in whatever you did.
For our supper last night, I had fixed a package of Maple flavored Bacon, scrambled some eggs, made some gravy, and opened a can of biscuits up. Our next door neighbors had went to a party somewhere for a while, and left their Daughter and her son at home, but they had locked their door and told them to stay with us. They were planning on being back around 8:00p.m. We had them for supper as well. Since it is breakfast, my youngest Daughter calls it Brupper. LOL. So, if you see this new word on my post this coming year, you will know what it means. LOL.
Last night while we had company, I cooked my Black-Eyed Peas with a Ham Hock. I put them in the refrigerator late last night before I went to bed. Later on today I will heat them back up and fix a pan of homemade Buttermilk cornbread, and I'm going to fix my Cabbage Casserole as well. Hubby said yesterday afternoon that is how he wanted the cabbage fixed. He really loves my Cabbage Casserole. That is going to be our Menu for this New Year's Day. I forgot to mention above also that last night while we was having our little New Year's Eve Party, that hubby played his guitar for us as well. He has really gotten good at playing and singing over the past year.
Well, guess I'll go for now. I am just now having my first cup of coffee. Me and hubby woke up around 9:00a.m. I have some more laundry to do today as well. I hope each and everyone of you has a great New Year's Day. Take care my friends and may God Bless Each and Everyone of you. Let's all strive to have a great New Year together.

LOVE & HUGS,

Good morning! It is almost 12:00 so it not going to be morning much longer!
I have on the Rose Parade and then we switch back to the game with Missouri and AR,with MO is ahead so far!
It sounds like you all had a great New Years Eve! We watched "Clue" because Kelly wanted to! It is to slapstick for me! But she loves it! Nancy got "Are you smarter then a Fifth grader" for Christmas and Karen read the first grade questions to her and so she had a good time too! We had too much to eat! We did stay up and see the new year in! People around here shoot off fire works so Kelly went out with sparklers but she said it was really cold!!
Have a great Day! Love Grams

Hi Karen,

Sounds like you had a good time seeing the New Year in with all the good food and the company of loved ones. It's a lot safer just staying in isn't it?

Karen, I am so glad I met you. You are so sweet and such a blessing to me as well as to a lot of people in the blogging world. You are always so willing to help. I know I appreciate all the help you have given me since I started blogging, which I think must have been sometime in November. I have a lot more to learn. You have so many people who leave comments on your site and still you have always found the time to visit my site to leave a comment. I appreciate that since I'm new and haven't made that many friends yet.

I love the way you care enough about me and others who are having health issues to put messages on your site asking for the prayers of others. Thank you.

Happy New Year, Karen. I pray the Lord will bless you with good health in 2008. If you have good health then you are richly blessed in all other aspects of your life.

Happy New Year, Karen. Your recipes sound absolutely delicious. What is cabbage casserole? I love cabbage, but I haven't come across this version. It's really nice that your husband can play guitar and sing to you. Does he compose any of his own songs?

Hi Karen,
Sorry it took me so long to check in today. Any leftovers from supper or did I miss it? At least a little bite of cornbread left? What is Cabbage Casserole?? You need to post your recipe...sounds good.

My daughter and family got back from Florida last night and they all came over today. We ate, played games and had a good time.

Looking forward to 2008 with all my new Bloggy Friends. You, Lib and Peggy were my first ones so ya'll are special to me!!

See you tomorrow. Have a good night.

I had a few bites of black eyed peas at Dixie Cafe for lunch but they had some kind of funky seasonings in them and they weren't good at all. Yuck! My salad was much better.

Hubby and I stayed home last night. He watched TV and I worked on a winter theme for my blog and Cecil's blog. We just said "Happy New Year!" to each other and that's all we did to celebrate.

We're party animals, we are, LOL! ;o)

Happy New Year to you and yours, Karen.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Happy New Year...Karen!

I am so glad that you had a great time with hubby and your guests. I think that it is better to stay in and celebrate as oppossed to going out in the crowds.

I love your menu for New Years Dinner. Please share your recipe for the cabbage casserole with us.

Tell hubby I'll be thinking of him and pray that his new job will be safe and less stressful on you both.

Karen... I am so glad to have met you this year. It is a wonderful blessing to me to read your post each day...along with your precious and funny comments on my blog. You have a very special place for visitors at Karen's Korner.

May your new year be filled with lots of love, joy, happiness, peace, laughter, many blessings and new friends!
