Good Wednesday Mornin' Yall,
Burrrr!!!! It's a very cold moring here. It is currently 20 degrees with a windchill of 15 degrees. Now that my friend is COLD. It will probably drop a degree or 2 before the Sun comes up. The high to day is only suppose to be 32 degrees. Yesterday was cold as well. I think it got up to 37 degrees, but the wind was blowing and that made if feel even colder. I stayed in yesterday and didn't get out. I did open the door a couple of times, but I quickly closed it. LOL. I have my Thermostat set up almost on 80 degrees.
I do hope that everyone had a great New Year's Day. It was a nice and quiet day around here. I did heat up my Black-Eyed Peas and made my Homemade Buttermilk Cornbread. I also made my Cabbage Casserole to go along with that. I invited my MIL over to eat with us as well. We had a late lunch. We ate around 3:00p.m. It was just the 4 of us and my MIL. I had several that left comments yesterday wanting my Cabbage Casserole Recipe. I will be kind enough to share it with everyone that wants it.
1 Head of Cabbage 1 or 2 Cans of Chicken Broth
1/2 Bell Pepper 1 Can of Diced or Chopped Tomatoes(drained)
1/2 Red Onion 1 package of Diced Ham
4 or 5 Celery Stalks 1 package of Smoked or Kielbasa Sausage
1 package of Shredded 1/2 package Elbow Noodles
Chop of the head of cabbage, bell pepper, onion, and celery stalks. In a large skillet or Non-Stick Pan, add a little Olive Oil. Add all the chopped ingredients. Let them cook on top of the Stove until almost tender. Then, add your Diced Ham and chopped up Smoked or Kielbasa Sausage in with the chopped ingredients. Let this cook for about 10 minutes. Next, add your 1 or 2 cans of Chicken Broth. The amount of cans of Chicken Broth depends on how small or big your head of Cabbage is. Next, add the 1/2 package of Noodles and the tomatoes. Let all this cook in the Chicken Broth until the Noodles are tender. After all of this is done, turn the heat off and add the Shredded Cheese on top. Put the lid on and let it sit for about 5 minutes or until Cheese is melted good. I usually cook this on Medium-High Heat. Depending on what kind of stove top you have, you may want to raise or lower your heat settings. This recipe will still have some juices in it from the Chicken Broth. This goes really well with some Cornbread. Now this is a recipe that DH and I made up one night. It's our own recipe and we didn't get it from anyone else. If you don't like some of the ingredients that I have listed, please feel free to omit them from the recipe. You can basically add or omit anything you want. This is just what we like in ours. If you happen to try this recipe, please let me know how you liked it or if you did something different. I do hope you will like it and enjoy it.

I did laundry yesterday as well. My DH will be leaving around 5:30a.m. going to his new job orientation. The orientation will last 3 days and DH and his Uncle will be assigned a truck on Friday. I'm not sure if they will get a load assignment that day or not. I will know more about it later this week. I do appreciate dearly all of the prayers that have been said for my DH and I hope you will continue to lift him up as he starts this new job. It's going to be a big adjustment for us all as he will not be home at nights like he had been. Team Drivers have to run at least 5,000 miles before they can come home. But with both of them taking turns doing the driving, it shouldn't take them no more than 5 to 6 days.
I am still trying to figure this blogging thing out. LOL. I still want to add a page just for my Awards. I'm also thinking of starting up a Recipe page as well. I thought that would be nice and I could share some of my Recipes with you and maybe you could share some of your Recipes with me.
We didn't take down our Christmas Tree down on New Year's Eve Day like we had planned. We just wasn't in the mood to do it. LOL. I told hubby that I would start taking things down this week and when he did get to come back home all he would have to do is put them out in the storage shed. So, we got to enjoy our Christmas Tree and other decorations on New Year's Eve. I still have the lights going on my Tree because it looks so good and I love the multi-colored lights on it. DH made the remark on New Year's Day that we should just leave it up all year long. LOL. I told him sure, we can do that and then decorate for all the upcoming Holidays and Season's. LOL. But we won't do that tho. We have to have our fun joking around with each other.
I guess I'm going to go for now. I have to get DH up in a few minutes. Yall take care and have a Blessed Wednesday. May God Bless Each and Everyone of You. If you have to get out, be sure to bundle up.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, yummy!! I love anything with cooked cabbage!! Now that I read this, I'm gonna have to make my cabbage runza's sometime soon [kraut burgers]. And yes, I WILL try this. For sure, for sure.

I bet with all the cold weather you're having, it's only fitting to leave the tree up as long as you can....and ya, I'd be cranking the heat up too with a chill factor like you've got!!! Wow. It's cold here too, but it's the damp that makes it bone-chilling!

Sounds like you have a busy time ahead taking down decorations, and it's super that you'll have it all packed before hubby gets back home....mighty nice!!! I like that in a woman....always taking care of hubby [I do that a lot too]

Happy day to you Karen [I say 'day' because with holidays, I don't know what the heck day of the week it is!!! LOL]

Hey there, Karen!

I am definitely going to try that Cabbage Casserole recipe. Thanks for sharng your "secret" recipe with us!! I think a cooking page would be a good idea. Do you need to start another blog page just for that? I'm still trying to figure this thing out too so I'm no help! lol

We are still having those cold temps here today and snow flurries. We only got maybe 1/2 inch last night if that much. It shore was purty coming down though!

Dave and I got all the decorations down inside the house last night. I don't like doing that job. It's always more exciting to put them up!!

I know you're gonna miss hubby this week. You've been use to having him around awhile. Saying a prayer for his safe return on the weekend.

Take care, my friend, and have a wonderful Wednesday.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the cabbage casserole recipe. Sounds delicious.

We haven't taken our Christmas decorations down either. We didn't put up much since we usually go to my stepdaughter's and my sister's during Christmas. I always cook food to take to their homes. This year was an exception as I did fix a Christmas dinner on Friday night before Christmas.

Have a good day, Karen

Thanks for the recipe!

As far as your awards post what you can do is put them all one post and date it for when you first started blogging then just put a link to that post in your side bar.

As far as recipes you can do like Diane J and just make a whole 'nuther blog for!

Have a warm and happy day!

My SIL has a Xmas tree that stays up way after the holidays. She puts hearts on it for Valentine's Day. It's one of those tall skinny trees.
Have a good one.

Hi Karen, thanks for putting the cabbage casserole recipe up on your blog. It sounds absolutely delicious and I'll let you know when I've tried it. Sorry I was messing around with my blog when you visited, I think. I had made a collage of pictures and copied it to the blog, but I didn't like the way it looked and took it down again. I think the grinchy thing is supposed to be ET. I stuck with photos today because I'm feeling sad that Christmas is over and family are leaving one at a time. Best wishes to your DH when he starts tomorrow. You asked about the time, it's 23:45 here now, and I should be heading for my bed. Goodnight.

Hi Karen,

Yep, it was a bone chillin' morning and day, even though the sun was shining beautifully. I stayed in mostly, too, except when I went out to feed the birds. There are so many of them, they practically eat me out of house and home! LOL. But I love the birds.

I love cabbage as well, so thank you for the great recipe. Since we went out to eat yesterday, I cooked a roast pork and sauer kraut dinner today. Yummy! (hope I spelled that right.)

Aww, I know you'll miss your husband, but just think how nice the reunions will be every week. LOL.

Well, tomorrow it will be warmer, the forecast says, and we'll be in the 60s by the weekend. It will feel like spring, after this arctic cold snap.

Have a lovely evening with your girls, and stay warm and snug.

Hi Laren! Thank you so much for the sweet comments on my blog! I just Pampered Chef! It is all I use in my kitchen. I love the stones! I am going to have another Party in May, I like to have them in May for breast cancer month. ANd they always have really cute pink ribbon items that the proceeds from go to charity.

I think a recipe blog would be awesome! I am always looking for new recipes to try. With a big family, I have to make a ton of food, lol!

Hope your year is the best ever!

It was so cold here today too -- I think 12. It's supposed to be 50 this weekend though.

It never made it above freezing today and I was out in it all day long. But I love the cold weather! Now we just need some snow for snow cream. ;o)

I still have to take my tree down if I ever have time. I've been gone just about every day for the last week. Maybe tomorrow afternoon or Friday...

I'm still working on my Winter theme and my awards page link. I may have to ask Pink Magnolia to help me with the link.

Stay warm and cozy, Karen. ;o)

Love and hugs,

It sounds like this frigid air mass has been affecting a lot of us...right now it's -2F here! I went out around 5:30 p.m. for the first time today and it shocked me how cold it was...had to let the car run for a long time to warm it up!!

Thank you so much for sharing your cabbage casserole recipe with us, I've copied it down. How about you come over and make me some cornbread to go with it??? hehe It truly does sound very delicious!!

Hope all goes well with your hubby's orientation and that he likes his new job. I'm really glad that he was able to be home with you and the girls during the Christmas and New Year holiday:-)

It took me all day to get my house back in it looks so bare but SO clean! lol I've heard that some people do leave their tree up all year round...I don't think I'd like that, then it wouldn't be so special at Christmas time.

To add another page for your awards, you need to start another blog and place all your awards on it...then you can link it on this blog. Once you start another blog, you'll see the two of them in your Dashboard. If you need more help, just let me know:-)

Well, time for me to get myself to bed, I'm exhausted!! Take care my friend and "see" you in the morning:-) xoxo

I don't want to think about cold weather. I'm ready for spring. Trying to get all caught up here. Whew.

Hope your hubby does well with his new job.

I just took the tree down today and got the house back in some order.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2008.
