WET & WINDY WEDNESDAY

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNIN' YALL,

I WOKE UP THIS MORNIN' TO THE SOUND OF THUNDER!!!! Yeap, it's thundering and lightening and raining this morning as I am typing this and it is 64 degrees. It's gonna be a wet Wednesday for sure. They say we may even have some severe Thunderstorms today in ahead of the cold front that is suppose to be here later on tonight. We will definitely be going "COLD TURKEY" for tomorrow. LOL.

Hubby got in yesterday afternoon about 4:30p.m. My sister came and got the girls also. They stayed all night with her last night as she is taking them shopping to Memphis today. I do wish she would change her mind and just take them to Jonesboro since it is going to be bad. Maybe she will, I sure pray she does. Me and hubby went to Monette, AR last night to their local restaurant and had supper. We had a hamburger steak smothered in onions and peppers. He had fries and I had a baked potato. We both had salads to go with it. And we had Texas toast along with it also. And to drink, we had sweet tea with lemon juice in it. If'n you live in the South, you got to have your ice cold sweet tea. LOL. Anyway, it was some good eatin and we got our stomach's full. We came home and we was watching television. We were watching on Food Network the Sandra Lee Thanksgiving Show. Well, yall, she came to the part about making gravy. She pulled out some "Gravy Flour". LOL. I have never heard of such a thing. I am a born and raised southern gal here. I told hubby that was the "Lazy Woman's" way of making gravy. LOL. I'm sorry yall, but I have never in my life heard of "Gravy Flour". Only flour I have ever used for making gravy was just plain old regular flour. Hubby was really laughing at me at this point. I asked him what was the difference? He said that "Gravy Flour" is a more fine flour. I then told him well you can have a fine flour if you take your regular flour and sift it. Anyway, that was our fun for the evening. We are always doing this with each other, joking and laughing and carring on like that. I think that is a part of what makes a good marriage. We did put our turkey in the slow cooker around 9:30p.m. last night. Hubby loves it cooked in a slow cooker. It is more tender and falls off the bones. Also, I don't have to have my gas oven on all the time either. So, this is hubby's contribution to our Thanksgiving meal. LOL. He does a good job and a great cook. He has spoiled me over the years of our marriage and I wouldn't know what to do without this wonderful man. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH MY DEAR HUBBY!!!! Okay, I'll move on to something else, I know yall probably get tired of me talking about my hubby, but I'm sorry, I just can't help myself.

I would like to "THANK" Kansas Rose for awarding me the "YOU MAKE ME SMILE AWARD". "THANK YOU" so much Kansas Rose. You are a great person and friend and just to let you know, YOU MAKE ME SMILE also. You may have noticed it on my sidebar. I recieved it yesterday.

I must ask everyone: Are yall going shopping on the big shopping day after Thanksgiving? I am not. I did that a couple of times, and said I would never do it again. There are grown people out there acting worse than kids. It is pathetic. It's bad enough just going regular shopping, but to do this the day after Thanksgiving, you have just got to be out of your mind here. LOL. I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just saying how it is around here. And besides, I am one of those last minute shoppers anyway. I don't ever have the money to buy before hand, so, I usually pick me one weekend out of December and do my Christmas Shopping. I've gotten to where I buy Christmas cards for my parents and sister. We usually just give my Mother-In-Law money because she can always use it. It is so hard to buy for my parents as they have everything and then, my sister, she is very very picky. She will only wear certain things. So, needless to say, I just give her money and she can buy whatever she wants. Me, I'm not picky. I love anything. Me and hubby don't usually buy for each other. We usually wait until after the first of the year and get each other something when we get our income tax return back. We do make sure our girls have a good Christmas though. They may not get everything they want from us, but they do have a good Christmas. Anyway, I will not be going shopping the day after Thanksgiving. We will more than likely be putting our tree up and trying to get the rest of the stuff out of our old house since hubby will have a long weekend. We usually put our tree up Thanksgiving weekend anyway.

I don't think I will be posting tomorrow. If I do, it may be a short and sweet message. I am going to try and get alot of my stuff done this afternoon so I won't have so much to do tomorrow. I'll just have to wait and see.

At this time, I would like to wish all my blogging friend a "HAPPY THANKSGIVING" and "BE SAFE" if you are traveling. I pray for travel mercies on the ones that will be traveling today and tomorrow and then again on Sunday. Have a great time with your families and don't eat too much. LOL. Sorry, I had to throw that in there because I know we will all be eating too much. Here is my THANKSGIVING CARD to you. You may add it to your sidebar if you would so like. I would also like for my Canadian friend to have this as well. I know they have already had their Thanksgiving, but I still want them to have it as well. My good friend, Diane, of Diane's Place made this for me. She made me a couple of headers for my blog and I didn't use this one, so I am sharing it with you. "THANK YOU" again Dear Diane for all that you help me with. You are such a wonderful friend and I am Thankful to have met you. I appreciate you so very much.

Well, yall take care my friends and have a great Wednesday and May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs & Love to all,

Today's weather is fairly nice here but some snow might come on Thanksgiving day. We are traveling about 4 hours away but we're leaving today.
I do NOT shop the day after Thanksgiving. Couldn't pay me enough to do that. I'm a shopper but not that day.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

I don't do that after Thanksgiving shopping either!! I know some that do and go early and wait in line for hours for the store to open so they can stampede to get what is on sale!! I'd rather be home sleeping!!

No rain here. Just sunshine thus far and the leaving are falling fast today.

Have a wonderful safe Thanksgiving Karen!!

Blogger ate my comment again. I just hate it when it does that - bad blogger.

It snowed during the night here, and is just beautiful - the sun has come out now and it's sparkling. I hope it doesn't mean bad roads for loved ones coming from North Dakota and Oklahoma, and those going to Idaho.

I hope to get a post up today, but have lots to do on my day off from work. I'm with you on shopping the day after Thanksgiving - CRAZY!! I don't even like shopping on a good day. Give me a catalog any day!

Have a wonderful day and a great Thanksgiving!

Good morning, Karen,

It is raining here. It started last night around 8pm and has continued. We do need the rain, so I'm not complaining.

Thank you so much for including me with the beautiful Thanksgiving gift. I will display it proudly on my sidebar. It's beautiful.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving with your family. I wish you abundant blessings with lots of love and laughter.

Don't feel bad, I've never heard of gravy flour either! There's no Martha Stewart living in this house!

Congrat's on your new award. You certainly deserve it.

Your Thanksgiving theme on your blog is so pretty. I've never learned how to change things so mine has been the same for nearly a year. Same thing with my old blog. It is still up but I haven't used it in quite a while. I had it for two years.
The one I have now I've had about a year.

I don't do the cooking for Holidays anymore. My sweet daughters do it all. I am the oldest and honored one now in the family.
I usually make a dessert to take to my daughters when we have feast days, but they do the work while I sit and love on my great grandbabys and take lots of pictures.

I don't usually buy gifts anymore either, except for my sisters and my best friend. In my immediate family, (kids, grand and great grand kids number around 40). Social Security benefits wouldn't go very far. LOL

We are a close family and our love for one another is the finest gift we could ever give.

I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving Karen.
God bless you and yours.

Hi, Karen. I don't do that Friday after Thanksgiving, either. For one thing, I don't have the money then, and another, it just ain't worth all the fighting, shoving and standing in line. I'll do almost all my Christmas shopping on Dec. 1st. I already have about half of mine done.

I know what they were calling gravy flour. I've bought Wondra superfine flour before but I couldn't tell much difference in it and regular flour, except that it's a lot higher than plain or self rising. The only other difference is it is a lot finer, but if you stir plain flour like you're supposed to it does fine.

You're very welcome for the headers and graphics, Karen. It's my pleasure to do that for you. :o)

Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful and blessed, Karen.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Hello again dear Karen:-)

It's 3:16 pm here and I've just gone back from shopping with my mom...been gone since 10 am!! No wonder my feet are sore! lol The snow we had during the night is still around and it sure looked pretty on the drive home from town:-)

Sounds like a fun dinner out with your hubby...it warms my heart to know that you two are so happy together:-) As for "gravy flour" I'm wondering if that's like Bisto or Veloutine...it's more like a powder and all you have to do is add water and some stock from whatever meat you're cooking to make gravy.

Bet it smells good at your house right now with that turkey cooking in the slow cooker!!

Congratulations on another award...as I've said before, you deserve all of them:-) You always make me smile:-)

Thank you so much for the Thanksgiving banner...I will wear it on my blog proudly!! Take good care of yourself my friend and have a simply marvelous day tomorrow...I am thankful for YOU:-) xoxo

Hi, Karen! Our weather is cold, but clear and a little windy. Looks like we're going to have fine weather for Thanksgiving. I don't like shopping - period, and I don't generally shop when there's so many folks, so this weekend is out for shopping. Anyway - haven't got the money. This year, the presents will be simple and few.
God bless your Thanksgiving, and all who gather at your table, dear friend!

Hello Karen, wishing you and your family a very wonderful Thanksgiving. We are getting cooler weather here as well.Feels more like the holidays to me. No, I won't be shopping on Friday unless I go to Goodwill. That's the day they put out all their vintage Christmas items that I so love. So that will be my shopping, if any on Friday.

Blessings,Shelley

Karen - Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I did the Black Friday shopping once. I went to WalMart to get just one item - a TV. I was lucky - there was a table right inside the store that had tickets for the TV. I just had to pay for it and then drive around to the back of the store to have it loaded in my car. I was home in 15 minutes!

It's turning cold here, in the
40's, I think, Chance of snow tomorrow and the rest of the week and weekend. I've got some wood left over from last winter so I'll build a good fire in the fireplace.
I know you are busy, getting ready for tomorrow...just wanted to stop and say hi again.
hugs, bj

I use Wondra for many things but not for gravy. If I'm making the kind of gravy where you brown the flour, I use regular flour. For something like chicken and dumplings that needs thickening, corn starch.

Please, no tornados for my Arkansas buddies.

Sorry I didn't get over here sooner. Busy day and I still have to finish up the deviled eggs to take tomorrow. I love the "thank you Thanksgiving note".

Have a great day.

P. S.

Being the "damyankee" when I first moved to AR, I liked unsweetened tea but was much too polite to say so.

Finally my husband told his mother and she began making me my very own little pitcher. Then she scolded me for not speaking up to begin with.

Hey girlfriend, sorry I haven't posted. Been dropping in but didn't leave any comments, forgive please. Like you, this southern gal uses regular flour and loves sweet tea with lemon!! We had storms last night, thank goodness nothing bad here just alot of rain, thunder and lightening. The temps have really dropped. I hope your girls had fun shopping. I have a sister who isn't married and she spoils all my kids too. It use to bother me about the money she spent on them but I figured since she didn't have kids of her own, she can have mine anytime and spend all she wants.lol I pray that you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for this year, finding wonderful caring and loving friends like yourself, my family, having JB home for the holidays, like you, having a wonderful hubby, but most of all, living in this free country where we are able to meet people even if through the internet, and developing a life time friendship with someone as wonderful as you. Hope you and yours have a blessed day.
