WEDNESDAY

Good Mornin' Yall,

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since I've posted and I thought I would do another post to give everyone an update. But first, let me give my weather report. LOL. It is currently 71 degrees here at 4:32a.m. CST. It has been a bit warmer this week, but not as bad as it was the first of the month. We have actually had some nice and pleasant weather around here and even some nice rains as well. The nights haven't been so bad either. The only thing about nights around here is the skeeter's. Yeap, they will eat you alive. I am ready for some Fall weather and temperatures around here.

Now for the update on my hubby. I took my DH back to see the Neurologist last Tuesday and he released him to go back to work. Last Friday, my DH's Uncle took him to their Terminal to take the DOT Test (Urine Test) was what he was told he would have to take and the letter from the doctor wasn't good enough for them. So, my DH didn't get to leave out this past Sunday as planned. He had to go back there on Monday and had to take the DOT Physical as well as the Stress Test. The doctor's office did fax a form that my DH's workplace needed and they got it. The doctor actually talked to the lady in charge of giving the test and physical and he told them they better not let anything happen to his patient. The doctor wanted my DH's blood pressure and heart rate monitored closely. Hubby passed the test's with flying colors and didn't have any problems with his blood pressure or heart rate. So, my DH and his Uncle will be leaving out around noon today to go pick up their De Pere, WI load and then be home again on Friday. I tell ya, it's going to be really hard after having him home and being with him constantly for a month. Today, my DH will be smoke-free 1 month and tomorrow will be 1 month for me. We are doing good so far. There has been a few times that I wanted to cave and go buy me a pack, but I didn't. I am still having to take my DH back each Friday to have his blood checked to make sure his INR levels are where they need to be. When he left the hospital, the INR level was like 3. Then the next Friday, it had gone up to 4.6. He came home taking 7.5 MG of Coumadin. After that first week, they put him on 5 MG of Coumadin. I took him back last Friday and his level was 4.3. So, they put him on 4 MG of Coumadin. I'm sure it will take a few more weeks for it to get where it needs to be and then after that, he will go back every 2 weeks for a while and then only once a month after that. I have to take him back to see the Neurologist on Sept. 12 for a Check-Up. The Neurologist is suppose to have some more information for us on the Stint Surgery and about having it done in Memphis, TN, instead of having to go to Little, Rock, AR. The Neurologist did tell us that it would be better in the long run to have the Stint Surgery. Even tho it has it's pro's and con's like Coumadin, at least if he had a stint put in, he wouldn't have to take Coumadin anymore. He just has to be really careful now while he is on Coumadin and make sure he doesn't start bleeding and bleed to death. He is still having some problems with his speech, but hopefully in time, it will get back to normal. I have also noticed that he seems to be more irratable than before having the stroke. Certain things seem to bother him more as well. Maybe that part will get better in time as well. Please continue to pray for my DH and our Family. "THANK YOU" all so much for the prayers you have said already.

The girls started back to School last Monday(18th). They actually made it thru the first week just fine. The first day of School they didn't have any homework. I think they started having homework either the 2nd or 3rd day of School. I tell ya, I don't know bout yall, but alot of that Math homework they have these days, I don't know the first thing about. I think I need to be in School with them both. LOL. When I was in School, we didn't have that kind of Math. Where do they come up with the Math they have these days? LOL. I'm from the "Old School" as some would say. LOL. The first week of School around here was a sad and tragic week. Either on the first day or second day of School, a local girl that goes to High School in Lake City, where our High School is at, had a wreck and had to be air-lifted to a Hospital in Little Rock. I think she had some broken bones but she is home now and is in a wheelchair. It's going to take some time for her to get back to normal again. Then on Wednesday or Thursday of last week, a former Police Chief that used to work here where I live at, shot himself. Yeap, that was really bad. Then last Friday, in Lake City, a 23-month old girl had wondered off from a Day Care and went to the neighbor's house next to the Day Care and got into the neighbor's swimming pool. It was about 20 or 25 minutes before she was even found. They first took her to a hospital in Jonesboro and later she was transferred to the Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She had been on life support because she was brain dead and then about noon this past Sunday, they took her off of life support. I think she passed away around 4:35p.m. CST, Sunday afternoon. They are having her Funeral tonight. It has really affected alot of people in Lake City. I didn't know the little girl or her parents, but I did know one of her Aunts and cousin because the Aunt teaches here in the town where I live at. So, I ask that you remember the Family of the 23-month old, the Day Care where she was at, and the neighbor's whose pool she got in. I think they were all good friends and I don't think any charges are going to be filed. So far this week, things seem to be going better than how last week started off.

This coming Monday is Labor Day, and I thought I would use some Labor Day graphics. Do yall have any special plans for the Labor Day weekend? My Parents are wanting to go to Hardy this Saturday and take the girls with them for the day. I think me and my DH will be going as well because my Parents want us to go so we can just get out of town for the day. We are planning on taking a Picnic lunch as well. I think they are calling for some rain on Saturday, but we will have to wait and see if it does rain on Saturday. The girls will be out of School on Monday.

Well, I do appreciate all of the comments everyone left in my previous post. I have been awake all night again. LOL. I will probably get some sleep later today after my DH leaves out. I have Church tonight. We are suppose to be starting a Tour of The Holy Land. The Wednesday night teacher is suppose to order some things so we can do this over a projector or either by a computer. It sounds really interesting and I think I will like it.

We had our youngest daughter's Birthday Party this past Saturday at our Church Fellowship Hall. Their Wednesday night classes, called Kid's for Christ, had a Lock-In on Friday night and they didn't go to sleep till about 5:00a.m. on Saturday morning. Then the Parents had to come pick them up at 7:00a.m. You talk about some sleepy and grouch kids. LOL. Anyway, our youngest daughter turned 10 on Sunday and her Party on Saturday turned out just fine. We told her that when her Daddy went back to work and we got caught up on bills and things, that we would make it up to her. She understood.

Well, guess I better go for now. I am having coffee again. LOL. Take care my friends and I'm going to try and get around to visit sometime today or tonight. May GOD Bless Each and Everyone of you.

Good Morning my dear Karen!
I'm happy that I read your non-smoking report! Good for you both.

I truly believe that you all will be good soon. It takes a lot of work and a lot of determination to have things back to normal when one in the family has health issues. And I'm sure the stint would be the way to go....the artificial drugs these days have so many warnings and terrible side effects it's just not my idea of life, y'know? Do hope his blood work continues to improve.

And I hope you too can get back to normal and find a restful sleep soon!

Sounds like a horrific first couple of weeks for the town...what with all the tragic happenings.

Yes, go out and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing weekend for the holiday. It'll do you good.

[and as for the temperament of your DH - I'm sure in his mind, he's still quite frightened and continually thinking of supporting his family that he loves. Give him time!]

Giant hugs and continued prayers. I'm sure glad you blogged an update - you all have been in my thoughts!!!

Well, hidy doo, Karen..so glad to hear from you, girl.
Glad to hear your hubby is better and back at work. I am on Coumadin, too, and, yes, it is taking awhile to get it all just right. As long as we have to take it, we will have to be checked often.
Have a great holiday and take care,
bj

Hi Karen!

It was good to hear from you this morning, lady! Thank the Good Lord your DH is much better, and congratulations on quitting smoking! That's a big achievement.

I am heading out the door, so can only stop by for a few minutes, but I was so happy to hear from you. I'll be back later, dear Karen. Have a great day, and God Bless!

Love and Hugs,

good morning Karen
Thanks for the update. Irritation from nicotine withdrawal is very normal. The first time I tried to quit, after 2 weeks, my daughter begged me to start back. I must have been a grizzly bear! I'm proud of you for making it a month. It will get easier with time but 1 month is great. I'm happy the doctor gave the thumbs up so your husband could drive again.
We will not be leaving Memphis for good until the house sales and then Honey Bear may be here one week a month. It will just be one of his traveling places. I will come with him sometimes but I will mostly be in Alabama. I am excited to be so near my daughter's family. We are actually closer than when we lived there before moving here. It won't be like moving to a new place as I've lived there and have friends there plus it is near my extended family. I will continue to blog. There may be a little time before the cable company gets it all hooked up. You know how they are. I am thinking about changing the template and header at that time. We'll see. If I do, it will have the same link so I won't lose any of my friends on line.
Well, time to get up and pack some more. Busy times!
I do check in here from time to time to see if you've written but it is nice that you let me know. Now try to stay awake during the day so you can sleep at night.

Karen,

Strokes and heart attacks are very hard on both the patient and the family. I'm sure that your DH is very frightened that this will happen again. The stroke would have certainly affected him psychologically and it will take him a while to get over that part of it. I am glad that he is coming along well and is able to go back to work.

Congratulations to both of you for being smoke free for a month. Did you know it's harder for a smoker to quit smoking than it is for an alcoholic to quit drinking? Yeap, it sure is tough and you two are doing awesome. Keep up the good work. That could also be part of your DHs irritability. Take it one day at a time and even one minute at a time if need be.

It sounds like your area had a tragic week. I will pray for all concerned.

Take care, my friend. So glad to see you back. You've been missed.

Blessings,
Mary

Hello Karen,
So great to hear from you and to read all your news. Congratulations and a high 5 for the 1 month anaversery of not smoking. For me it is food. Just take it a day at a time and the time will fly.
Great news about your Hubby's health. Time will continue to heal and He will be back before you know it.
I am like you with the math. I can not believe what these young people have to learn these days. So glad the girls are doing well and when will the sports begin? Kids, I think understand more that we give them credit for. Your family will be a testamony for others.
I will pray for those individuals you wrote about. So far the area is doing good.
Take care and have a good nap.

Love and Hugs,
Joyce

Hi, Karen. Happy to hear that D. is doing better and able to go back to work. Congrats on quitting smoking! Besides being a lot better for your health, it'll also save you a lot of money!

I redid my blogroll back in July, taking off some old links that didn't work and adding some new ones I've started reading. At the time you hadn't posted in almost 2 months and I thought you'd quit blogging altogether, so I took your link off my roll. Now that you're posting again, next time I updated my blogroll I'll put you back on it. :o)

That was so sad about the baby drowning. God bless that family and give them peace is my prayer.

Happy birthday to your girl! :o)

Happy Hump Day, and have a great rest of your week!

Love and hugs,

Diane

Hi Karen...I'm so glad you stopped by, you've been on my mind a lot...

Well, where I live we're now 'downgraded' to tropical storm warning. Which is great news from our vantage point, but where our son lives it's another story...Houston is still in line for the 'big hit' later tonight or early Saturday morning. And we still have power. I've been trying to get as much work done around the house just in case water or power goes out before this storm hits land...I'm done. All I can do that is humanly possible. We've shuttered the windows up and just wait for the worst to pass us.

Thanks again, for all you've done and for you're thoughts and prayers.
