MONDAY - HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY

Good Monday Mornin' Yall,

HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY!!!! It is currently 37 degrees with a windchill of 31 degrees. The winds are out of the West Northwest at 8mph. Yesterday it got up to 55 degrees and was partly cloudy. The rain had stopped by mid-morning and it was a windy day. Not too bad of a day except for the wind blowing. But by late afternoon, the winds started changing out of the North and it got colder. I do hope that everyone had a Blessed Sunday and ready to start a new day. It is suppose to be mostly cloudy here today and the high of only around 40 degrees. Yesterday I was burning up and was so tempted to turn my Air-Conditioner on, but I didn't. By late yesterday afternoon, I was cold again. LOL.

Since today is PRESIDENT'S DAY, I couldn't find a picture for the occasion, so that is why I chose the Betty Boop Star and it is Red, White, and Blue. I know most Banks and Post Offices will be closed around here today. Our School will not be out, but I think some are out tho. So, with that being said, try to take a moment out of your time and "THANK" GOD for our past, present, and future President's. And be sure to be praying for our upcoming election in November that GOD will provide us with a GOOD President to try and straighten this Country out. If you are off work for this Presiden't Day, I hope you enjoy it.

Yesterday, I didn't do much at all. I was so tired and sleepy from not sleeping well on Saturday night. My DH left for work and me and the girls just layed around and took it easy. Me and the girls just stayed in our jammies most of the day. We layed around and watched t.v. and I napped off and on all day. I did have to get out around 4:30p.m. and go to the Dollar General Store to get a few things we needed here at the house. But we came back home after that and we had Turkey Sandwiches for our supper last night with some chips and dip. I had got a box of Generic Ritz Crackers and a can of Cheese Spread at the Dollar Store. The girls were wanting some of that and we had that along with our sandwiches also. They even fixed me a couple and put a heart shape on the crackers and gave to me. That just touched my heart so much. Our oldest daughter is still getting better and I'm planning on sending her to School today. She still has a little cough, but I've been giving her some cough medicine and also some cough drops. I will send some cough drops with her to School today.

Did yall see about the big Beef re-call on the news last night? That is just so sickening to listen to and even watch. I tell ya, I don't know what is wrong with people these days. I was reading about it on our local t.v. station's website yesterday afternoon and they said alot of the meat goes to the School's Lunch Program. I pray that they won't be serving any hamburgers or anything with beef in it to all of the kids. Makes me not want to buy any more ground chuck anymore. There has just been so many re-calls on things lately that if things don't get any better, I think it would be better if we start doing like they did years ago and raise our own foods. I know times were hard back then, but people were alot more happier and content back then. People seemed to appreciate things more back then than they do today. Now, I'm not saying we don't appreciate things here, but there seemed to be more of appreciation back then. That's just my input on the subject.

Yall remember me telling about a T-Shirt design Contest here a few weeks back hosted by Denise@ http://samaritanwomen.blogspot.com/, well now you can go to her website Sew the Word@ http://sewthewordprimitives.blogspot.com/ and vote on your favorite saying. Here is what Denise is saying about it.

So, why don't you go over and visit Denise and vote on your favorite saying for the T-Shirt design. Denise is such a sweet and wonderful person and very Inspirational as well.

I would like to ask everyone something. I am wanting to re-do my blog here. I have seen so many beautiful ones around. I am really liking the Vintage looking designs and even the Pink designs that I have seen. If you don't mind, could you either tell me in the comment section or email me where you get your designs. I can't afford to buy anything right now and I have checked out the free websites, but haven't came across anything vintage looking yet. So, if you know of a free website that has these things, I would appreciate you letting me know. I really wish that Blogger had more Templates to chose from as well.

Well, I guess that is about if for this Monday. I think I will go visit and see who is ready to have some coffee with me. Take care my friends and have a great day. May God Bless Each and Everyone of You.

LOVE & HUGS,

Oh boy, I didn't even realize it was President's Day 'til I came here. That means no money....errrrr, um I mean bills....no, MAIL delivered today!!! Right? Dagnabbit!!! My luck.

I have to go in a few hours to get my blood work done, and I'm hungry and thirsty...figures, huh? When they tell me "no food or drink" before the testing...I always want something...NOW!! LOL, human nature I guess.

Y'know, I've not seen anything 'victorian' either. But there are some really nice template sets out on the 'net. I'll try and remember to keep a look-out for you and your victorian sytle.

Glad to hear that your daughter is well enough to go to school today...but, wait...is there school? Guess so. Don't ask me! I haven't had school aged kids for nearly 20 years.

Ya, that beef scare is something else. I'm tempted to go vegetarian...but then on second thought there was an e-coli scare with all that kinda food. Can't win for losing. Life goes on.

Happy Presidents Day Karen! I work at a bank, so I get the day off today! Yippee!!

I agree with you, sometimes I think we should raise our own food, nothing seems to be safe anymore. Sometimes I wish I lived in the Waltons era, even though times were hard then, they all seemed happy.

Glad your daughter is feeling better and able to return to school today.
Take care and have a blessed day!

Good morning, friend...I am so glad your baby is feeling much better. Glad you got some rest, too.
I would dearly LOVE to raise my own food...chickens, a cow, garden...I, however, live smack in the middle of a city, on an average sized lot and no room to do any of this. Besides, it's against city law or rules or whatever, to have large animals in the city limits. NOW....if we could sell and move to the country...that would be nice!
Have a good day, bj

We are off today for Family Day. So nice to have a day off to spend with my honey.

Our weather is cold up here -32 C with wind chills bringing it down to -45 C. I think I am going to stay in today.

Take care and talk to you later.

Morning, Karen
I have a post ready to go up but haven't done it yet. Sometimes, I do them up ahead of time for the memes like Thankful Thursday.

I am still in Alabama. I am going home Wednesday. I am in Huntsville which is in the Northern part. I hadn't watched any news but after you mentioned it, I went to see what it was about. The tornado was near Montgomery which is in the southern half of the state about 3 hours from here.
We went to meet my siblings for lunch yesterday and do a little outlet shopping in Boaz. It is about 70 miles from here. We had heavy rain and some thunder all the way there. I asked my daughter to drive. It was sunny by the time we started home.
These two grands are out of school, my son by love is off for his Birthday, and daughter is off, too. We're going out later to buy him a Birthday cookie and tonight I'm taking him out for dinner.
I don't know of any free designs. I put my own picture in the header but didn't know how to make it stretch. I don't want to spend money on a design either.
Mama Bear
Thanks for your concern,
Mama Bear

Good morning Karen, When you have a chance stop by, I have something for you. Have you voted for Denise's t-shirt saying? I have not watched the news this weekend and I didn't know about another recall of beef. I will check it out and I am glad my girls are not is school any longer. I can not wait to see what you do with your blog. I have been thinking the same thing. I may make a second blog for the awards I have been given. Sun is shining here with a temp of 24 and a stron wind.

Love and Hugs,
Joyce

Karen,

I'm glad that your daughter is feeling better. There is a nasty flu going around. I found out Sunday morning about 3am how nasty it was and yesterday did not do one thing.

Happy President's Day. Here it is our first Family Day, which was made a holiday by our provincial government but not everyone gets the day off. Federal workders are working. Banks and most stores are closed, but the Passport office is open and the mail will go. How crazy is that?

Take care, my friend. Enjoyed the Betty Boop graphic. She is a classic.

Blessings,
Mary

Hi Karen
Happy President's Day! (I didn't know there was such a day, but I love all celebrations). I'm so glad your daughter is better. Checked out the meat recall you're talking about, and it is shocking that most of the meat was bought for school meals and that it's probably already been eaten. I don't know anything about designing blogs. I'm just glad I managed to muddle through making mine, and I'm learning something new every day.

The beef recall is scary, you just don't know what is safe to buy these day.
Take care and I'm glad your daughter is doing better.
I'm off to vote now. Have a happy day . Hugs and blessings to you and yours. Linda

Hi Karen: Thanks for your sweet concern about our weather yesterday. I remember Ryan very well from when he was here...I e-mailed him one time after seeing him mentioned on your blog but he never responded (oh well)...he's probably busy.
Yes, Prattville got hit very hard yesterday, it's only about 15 miles from my house. My son and his family were here from B'ham yesterday and they waited out the storm. We were tracking it on TV, they didn't want to get on the interstate and get in the middle of it. I'm hoping to post some pics on here from the local newspapers....it's unbelievable. Fortunately, no one was killed!
I've had a busy day, grandson Jackson fell at day care and cut his lip, knocking another tooth loose (remember in December he knocked one out)? I met my daughter at the dentist's office, her little girl was also sick so after the dentist I bought Jackson to my house, Shannon to Taylor to the doctor, and Taylor has bronchitis! They've just left to get Rx filled and go home. I'm pooped!

Getting ready for our Savannah/Charleston trip this week, we leave Thursday for one week...we're ready for some R&R (but sure will miss the grandbabies).

Later - Judy

My daughter and I thought it would be fun to make up a "Happy President's Day" t-shirt that has the silloute (sp?) of Washington that the kids always make in school. =)

Hi Karen~ I am no expert on the blog templates. I only made mine from a powerpoint template, and then just customized the colors around it. I'm working on some changes again though. :) If you learn any pointers, please come share. ;)

Karen,

Just wanted you to know I love your new look. The background color goes perfectly with your header. Congratulations!

Hi Karen,

I'm glad your daughter is feeling better. God answers prayers.

We were supposed to have gotten snow last night and today, but it didn't happen. Nothing new there.

Thank you for visiting me today and showing concern because I had not posted yesterday and am late today. I am okay, thank you Karen, but I just decided to take a little break from blogging and from visiting. I'm back into it now and enjoying it as much as ever.

Hugs,
Betty

Ooooh love your new header and look...I see someone was able to help you:-) I'm just starting to make my own headers and enjoy it so much, I really want to get more into it.

Happy President's Day to you and your family! As Mary mentioned in her comment, it was our first Family Day here but it was only the Provincial workers who got the day off.

We've just had another day of freezing rain but they're saying we're supposed to get sun for a few days...I was starting to forget what a sun looked like! lol I want to be able to get into the city to see my mom and go to a couple of thrift shops so I'm hoping it's true and that our weather will settle down for a few days.

You're right, we should all start growing our own food...it's scary what's happening with the meats and veggies, between the e-coli and the mad cow disease, you don't know what's safe to eat anymore. We grow our own veggies in the summertime and I really miss having it in the winter time...need to buy myself a cow and a couple of chickens now! lol

I was just talking to Steve and calling him "loopy"...the pain meds were starting to take effect! lol He's in a lot of pain and will probably be in the hospital for another couple of days. They were going to try to get him up today but the pain was just too severe. Hate the thought of him suffering:-( Thank you for your continued prayers dear friend. xoxo
