PHRIDAY'S PHAVORITE PHOTO PHUN, SHOW & TELL FRIDAY, & YET ANOTHER TAG

Good Friday Mornin' Yall,
I do hope everyone had a great Thursday and ready to start a new day. It is a very cold morning here. It is currently 19 degrees with a windchill of 6 degrees. The winds are our of the East Northeast at 12 mph. Okay yall, by looking at the radar on my Sidebar, I am seeing what looks to be some Snow. Is it really? Could we? Oh please yall, keep your fingers crossed that we could get just a little Snow. If nothing but just a dusting would be great. Just so I could take some pictures. I do know one things, it it bitterly cold tho. The high only got up to 30 degrees here yesterday. I had to get out yesterday afternoon and run some errands and it was just frigid out there to me. When I got back home, I turned my thermostat up on 80 degrees. I sure dread seeing the Gas Bill next month. LOL. Oh well, we will pay it because I'm not going to sit inside and freeze my buns off. LOL. If I wanted to do that, I would just go stand outside. LOL. Yesterday morning my DH called me and he was up in Minnesota. It was around 6:10a.m. He was fixing to go to bed. He was coming out of a Truck Stop up there and he said it was Minus 12 degrees. Now that is not with the windchill. He said he was ready to get back down South. I told him it was cold down here too. It was like 26 degrees here. He said that was a heat wave compared to where he was at. Here I am beginning to think how people up North take that kind of cold. I guess they are used to it tho. I know I sure wouldn't want to live in that kind of cold. Anyway, I am THANKFUL for where I do live at and that I do have Heat to keep me warm.

Today is Phriday's Phavorite Photo Phun. It is hosted by Anni@ http://hootin--anni.blogspot.com/. If you would like to join the fun, go and visit Anni and sign the Mr. Linky and leave her a comment. Today, I am sharing of picture of our girls again.

This picture was taken back last Summer when our girls went to Mountain View, AR, for the week with my Parents and Sister. The big rocking chair has "MOMMA HORTON" on it. I don't know if you can click on it or not to enlarge it, but I think it was taken with my Sister's Cell Phone. You can try and see. Since I am our girl's MOMMA and our last name is HORTON, I thought this was a very cool rocking chair. Not everyday you find a rocking chair with you name on it. I told the girls I would love to have this big rocker at my house. LOL. I could rock them both in it. LOL. They are too big for that now, but I do miss it. Ain't no telling what the cost of the rocker is, but I'm sure it cost's a purty penny. I just love to look at this picture with our girls in it. I love our girls very much. I hope you enjoyed my Phriday's Phavorite Photo Phun.

Today is also SHOW & TELL FRIDAY. It is hosted by Kelli@ http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/. If you would like to do FRIDAY SHOW & TELL, go and visit Kelli and sign the Mr. Linky and leave her a comment and then post something on your blog.

Today, I am going to show yall a little something my DH bought me early last year from out on the road.

This is a Dolphin Globe. It is a Sea Shell that is opened up and has a globe in the center of it. You can see a dolphin in the globe. There is a button on the back of whole globe that you can turn on and it lights up the inside of the globe where the dolphin is. It's like Rainbow colors. I had it on while I took this picture, but you can't tell it. I had to use a spotlight to have enough light to show this. That's why there is a shadow in the background. This was taken with my Cell Phone Camera, so you probably won't be able to enlarge this one. You can see at the very bottom all the little details and it has glitter on it as well. It is really beautiful when it is lit up. I love to sit in the dark and just watch it. My DH was out on the road back last year and I am always telling him that I want him to get me something that he has picked out. Most of the times when he buys me things, I have to pick it out, so it's really no surprise to me. He called me one day and said he had got me something that cost $50.00. I was like WOW. He said he had spent the rest of his money on me. I was like, awwww, you are the best man in the world. That's what I told him. He got home that weekend and gave it to me. It was still in a sack. He went to get a shower and I opened it up. I saw this and just fell in love with it. I was so happy. Then I spotted something else in the sack. It was a piece of paper. It was a Sales Receipt. I thought, hmmmm. I decided to look at it. Well lo and behold, it was the receipt to the Dolphin Globe he had bought me. And, do you think he actually paid $50.00 for it? LOL. NO. It had a price of like $11.95 on it plus tax. Oh my goodness, I just laughed so hard. So, I decided to play with him a bit. No, not what your thinking. Shame on you for having a dirty mind. LOL. When he got out of the shower, I just started loving all over him and kissing him and telling him how much I loved the Dolphin Globe and how beautiful it was. I told him that he shouldn't have spent $50.00 on that. I had the receipt in my hand where he couldn't see it. I asked him, what is this? He looked at it and he started grinning from ear to ear. He knew he had been found out. LOL. It was so funny. But I told him that I didn't mind that it didn't cost $50.00. I told him it was the thought behind it and that he was the one that picked it out for me and I didn't know what it was till he got home. True Love comes from the Heart. My DH has a heart of gold and he loves me very much. I, of course love him very much as well. We are best friends. So, that my friends, is my SHOW & TELL FRIDAY for you. I hope you enjoyed it.

Well, I was Tagged again do share 7 random or weird things about me last week by Lib@http://libsprivateparadise.blogspot.com/ and a couple of weeks ago by Laura@ http://2lmzfarms.blogspot.com/ are the rules. Share 7 random/weird things about you. Post the rules. Link to the person/person's that tagged you. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include a link back to their blog. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving them a comment. So, here goes mine.

1. Okay, I'm coming out of the closet here and letting everyone know that I smoke. I know, I know, it's bad for me, but I have smoked for year's and it is hard for me to quit. My DH smokes too. I hope yall don't hate me for telling yall that. We all have dark closets, and I just decided to come out of that closet and let yall know.

2. I have a glass eye. When I was a little girl in the 1st grade, I was playing with a butter knife. My Mom had my Sister and my baby doll beds tied together with a string under their carport. I have no idea why she even had them tied up. I was wanting to play with mine. I snuck in the kitchen and got a butter knife and went out the back door to try and cut the string apart myself. Well, somehow or another, when I was in the process of cutting the string, the knife came back and hit me in my left eye. I screamed of course. My parents came running to my rescue and saw the knife laying on the carport. Part of my Pupil was laying on the carport as well. They took me to our local doctor whom my Mother was working for at the time and he said I needed to go to Memphis. We went to the Baptist Hospital and they did surgery on me. To make a long story short, I could see out of my eye for a few years after surgery. Then, Glaucoma set in and finally on the 4th surgery, I had to have my eye removed. I was like in the 5th grade by this time. I got a glass eye afterwards. I have been wearing glasses ever since then. They started out as protection glasses, but me only having on eye to see out of, it put alot of strain on my good eye. I had to start having stronger lenses. I do have a contact that I wear from time to time, but most of the time I just wear my glasses.

3. I am overweight. I'll not tell what I weigh, but I am overweight. I have struggled with this all of my life. It does run in my Family tho. After I found out I was a Diabetic a few years back, I did lose some weight then. I think I lost about 30 pounds. I have since gained it back. I just like to eat, plain and simple. I don't sit around and eat food all of the time, but when I do eat, I like to get full of what I am eating.

4. I have been made fun of all of my life because of my eye and me being overweight. When I was still in School, it used to bother me really bad and I would cry. After I got grown, it didn't bother me as well. I do see people starring at me if I'm out in public.

5. I am scared of heights. Oh yeah baby, I am. LOL. I was with my DH one time out on the road and we had to go thru the Smokey Mountains. I could see them on my side and I could see waaaayyyy down there if ya know what I mean. LOL. I freaked out and went into the sleeper. I just couldn't take it anymore. I have flown before as well, but the last time I did fly, I acted like a big baby. LOL. When I was flying to my destination, this guy next to me bought one of those small bottles of wine they serve on the planes. He let me play on his laptop as well. On the way back from my destination, one of the Stewardist, gave me a small bottle of wine to settle my nerves. LOL. I know yall are probably thinking I am crazy by now. I am not, I promise you.

6. I can't swim. Nope, I sure can't. I 'm scared of water to a certain degree. If it gets up to my chest, I start hyperventilating. So, I stay in the kiddie pools. LOL. I have got to be where I can touch the bottom of the pool or the lake or ocean. I do love being in the water tho.

7. I can't dance. Well, let's just say I can't do any of those dances they do these days. LOL. I can slow dance, but that's about it. I like to go dancing only if I can slow dance. Me and DH has been to a couple of Kariokie places wherre you can dance, and we have slowed dance a few times.

Now, I'm to Tag 7 random people to do this. Whewwww, this was so hard on me. I sure hope yall don't hate me now or think bad of me.

I do hope that I am caught up on all the Tag's and Meme's for a while. LOL. When you put one off you get behind really bad. I know my post's the last few days has been long, but I'm trying to catch up here. I hope I haven't forgotten any. I do think that the ones I have done this week has caught me up. If not, I'm sure someone will let me know. LOL

I have received some Awards from a couple of friends that I was going to share, but I think I will wait till either Saturday or Monday to post about them. Who knows, I may be rolling out the red carpet again. LOL.

I don't know for sure if I will post tomorrow or Sunday, I will have to wait and see. If I don't, I will post again on Monday. I just have to wait and see what is going on with us over the weekend. Our youngest daughter is suppose to Cheerlead again Saturday morning for the boys pee-wee Basketball games. She has to next Saturday as well. Anyway, take care my friends and have a great day and weekend. May God Bless You and Yours.

LOVE & HUGS,

Karen....we have SEVERAL things in common. First my 'fear' of water is the exact same as yours. I too don't like water over my face...I couldn't swim if my life depended on it for sure. But in all honesty, I love the water....from the SHORE!! Heights...Me too!!! I even get a little queasy being on the 2nd floor of the malls, looking down. But I do like to fly...weird, I know. And lastly ---your #1. Yep, me too. And I've quit several times [for years even], and when I pick up the habit, I smoke a lot more than I did before I quit...so I decided to not quit. LOLOLOL

That's a shame that kids are so darned nasty. I hate it when people make fun of being different...if only they knew how hurtful they are. As you know, I LOVE being different than the rest...so there again, we're two of a kind.

Your show n tell dolphin is super pretty!!! And quite a funny story. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, love is in the air! How sweet.

Now, y'all stay warm. I know one thing, I'm ready for summer. How 'bout you?

And love the Photo Phun...that's a cute chair, and love the story behind that too.

Good Morning Karen!
From one smoker to another - COUGH! It's a terrible, nasty habit but I just can't kick it. There should be rehab for smokers. I'm sorry to hear about your vision problems. Having this stye on my eye is bad enough. I can't imagine going all my life practically with only vision out of one eye. You're special for having overcome!

Love,
Julie

Your dolphin globe is really pretty. Thanks for sharing your 7 facts with us. I would never not like someone because they smoke or are overweight. I'm so sorry you were ridiculed in school. I was too because I was so skinny.

Morning!
Those didn't seem weird to me at all, seemed pretty normal. I'll give it a go if I get a chance. The beans spent the night last night so Nanaw doesn't get to do much other than read books to her and watch cartoons all day.

Good morning Karen, aww sweetie I like you just how you are don't you worry. I hate how mean kids and adults can be with people that are different. I have a bil that has a glass eye but his is due to his diabetes and it bothers me when people stare at him. I love your dolphin story and it is so pretty. What a wonderful and caring hubby you have there.

It is so cold here again this morning -4 air temp and wind chills are -25 so that is cold and I don't like it at all.

I see you tagged me and I will do it on Monday for you. Keep your eye out for it.

Take care my friend and have a wonderful weekend and enjoy that hubby of yours when he gets in tonight. Be safe and warm.

The gift from your DH is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed reading your 7 things...I smoked for years and years but quit about 5 years ago; the best thing I've ever done. You have to WANT to quit, tho, and until then, it is almost impossible. One day you will wake up and say, "this is it" and put them down. Good luck!
I have several fears too but it seems as I get older, I get braver. Not sure just why......
You are such a sweetheart, Karen. I am so glad we are blogging friends. You are honest and forthright and I do admire that in you so much.
hugs, bj

Good morning dear Karen:-)

It's snowing here right now...I keep telling you I want to send you some but it melts on its way there every time! hehe

That picture of your girls in that HUGE rocker is just adorable!! It must have belonged to the Friendly Giant! lol What a coincidence that it would have Momma Horton written on it!!

Awwwww, I so loved hearing how you got that dolphin globe...it's so beautiful and I can see why you love it so much:-) Your DH sounds wonderful and I'm so happy that you have each other and love each other so much!!

No wonder there was so much smoke in that closet...hehe! I tried smoking when I was 12 years old...a few friends and I went to the back of the playground shack and lit up a few cigarettes. I didn't care for it at all. Unfortunately, one of the girl's aunts saw us and called all our parents. I was grounded for 2 weeks and I remember telling my mom "that's so unfair, considering I didn't even enjoy it!" lol I never did start up although it doesn't bother me when people around me smoke. Steve is a heavy smoker...he's tried to quit but finds it so hard to do.

Children can be so cruel with their words...I was cross eyed until I was 8 years old and had to have surgery to correct it, then had to wear glasses for a few years. I remember well how much it hurt to have other kids make fun of me:-(

Like you, I'm very scared of heights...one reason I missed my son's wedding last April in Mexico because I won't fly!!!

Well, dear heart, I must get the window frame painted so I'd better get off my butt and get to it!! Hope your day goes well and that you do get a sprinkling of snow:-) Love ya! xoxox

Karen,

Your dolphin globe is beautiful. DH was very thoughtful to buy it for you and you're right - cost means nothing. It's the thought that counts.

Like you and Anni, you and I have some things in common. I don't like heights, I hate flying and I can't swim. I do enjoy going into the shallow end of the pool though. I loved the indoor pool that was in the hotel when we were on holidays. It was 105 degrees. That is my kind of pool.

I have tagged you for a meme. Do it at your leisure or if you'd rather not, that is okay too.

Blessings,
Mary

I know your life couldn't have been easy as a child but I think it has made you a stronger person! And from what I can see, you have 2 beautiful girls and a loving husband and family, you are a very blessed person, Karen. You are beautiful to me, inside and out!

I love the picture of the girls in that big rocker. I wish you could have that big chair and a big ole porch to put it on!!

I love the dolphin light and the story behind it. So funny!!

Oh Karen, this post made me cry!! You are one of the most beautiful people inside, I can tell just by the way you write! I have seen your picture as well and I think you are beautiful :) It must have hurt so bad when you did that to your eye! I am so sorry that happened. I have red hair and was always teased for that in school. I cried many times, so I know what you mean! Kids can be so terrible.

The dolphin globe is beautiful! You have such a sweet and loving husband! I just loved reading the story about the gift :)

Your girls are so cute in the big rocking chair! Thats so sweet! I want one too! I think I could even rock all five of my boys in that chair! How great that would be!

Thank you for being so real in this post! You are a lovely person Karen and I am glad we are friends!

I felt so bad for the little girl you were, feeling like that. I got picked on because when I was with other deaf kids, I wasn't "deaf enough" and when I was with hearing kids, I wasn't "hearing enough". I guess it makes us who we are, more compassionate towards others. I wouldn't change anything. Thank you for sharing. I will try to think of seven things. I don't know when, but I'll try.

Oh, i have something for you so come on over when you can. :)

Hi Karen,

I love the globe with the dolphin inside. I'll bet it's really pretty when the lights are on inside. Sweet story about your DH buying that for you while on the road. I'm sure he was trying to tell you how special you are to him by telling you he paid $50.00 for it when he didn't. I'm sure he would have paid $50.00 if that had been the price, because you are worth it to him.

Karen, I just cringed when I was reading about what happened to your eye. I'll bet that hurt like crazy and scared you half to death to see your eye laying on the floor. I could just feel the pain you must have experienced.

Take care, Karen, and have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for stopping by the Bears den. I enjoy reading what you have to say there and here on your website, too.
My Daddy was a trucker. That was why I asked. I have some cousins and an uncle who are, too. But the most surprising thing, I bet is that my Son by law's sister is a trucker. She is just the sweetest girl and I think of her as my daughter by law. I bet you're thinking she must be big ol masculine kind of woman but you couldn't be more wrong. She's alittle bitty thing about 4'8 with long curly hair. Quite a looker, too. I love reading about her trips on the road.
I don't see any thing happening outside right now, but I think we might have had some light rain earlier.
Have a great weekend.

I'm a bit late picking up the meme, and what a challenge you've set me. Which seven of the many weird things about me should I choose. I shall have to think about it.
I've been very busy. I'm doing two courses and I'm blitzing my house and garage at the moment, so there's not much time for anything else. The house is going to take ages to sort out because I've got so much crammed in here, but the car's loaded up and ready to go to the dump tomorrow, so that's one little bit less than there was in here!

Wow- you did have a lot of catching up to do. It can be pretty hard to keep up with all of the tags and awards we get around here.

Your 7 things were very interesting. I am so sorry that kids teased you. Children can really just be so cruel to each other and it just breaks my heart when I see it.

I really enjoyed your post and your blog is so much fun to visit!
