TUESDAY TID-BITS

Good Tuesday Mornin' Yall,

Burrrr!!!! It's another cold morning here. It is 33 degrees with a windchill of 28 degrees right now. It may drop a degree or 2 before sunrise. Yesterday the high only made it up to 45 degrees. It was a very cold day as well. The sun was shining, but it was just cold. They say it is suppose to warm up to around 55 degrees today. And by the weekend, temperatures are predicted to be back up in the 60's again. Tis' so much fun living in Arkansas with this crazy weather. LOL. But, we are snug as a bug inside the house tho.

I want to let yall know that my friend Heather, over at Heather's Brain is having her monthly Candle Giveaway. Here is how it works: 1. Leave a comment on Heather's Blog. 2. The winner and the recommended person will both win a candle of your choice. Yall please go over and visit Heather and enter to wind a Candle. You can click on the pictuer below to see more about them. I wouldn't mind winning one myself. LOL. No, seriously, I wish everyone Good Luck. So, go see Heather @ Heather's Brain for a chance to win.

Speaking of giveaways, I didn't win the delicious chocolates from over at Pea's Corner. A Lucky Lady named Peggy won. I forget what her blog is called. But, Congratulations to Peggy for winning Pea's Chocolates. Isn't the Giveaways so much fun this time of year?

My oldest daughter had her Basketball Practice last night. I just took her out there and dropped her off when the Coach arrived. One of her friend's Mother brought her home. She did mention about a possibility of having another game on Thursday. She said they would know later on. I do know we had a couple of games that wasn't on the schedule, so this may be one of those.

Hubby has been getting to stay at home at nights so far this week. They started yesterday hauling corn out the big bags that was stored in the fields from when they cut it a while back. He said his boss said they hope to finish up Friday. So, looks like he will get to be home every night this week. I sure am glad. I love it when he gets to be home at night with us. I was watching him and my youngest daughter play her game boy last night while our oldest daughter was at Basketball practice. It just brought such joy to my eyes seeing them snuggled up together in his recliner playing together. Both girls sure do Love their Daddy.

We had leftovers again last night. I did fix a fresh pan of homemade buttermilk cornbread again to go with it. Hubby sure does love my cornbread. There is just a bit of roast and vegetables left with the juices for my lunch today. I love to just crumble up my cornbread and puttin the juice on top with some vegetables. Now that my friend is a good meal. I do love leftovers. I don't believe in wasting food. Not in these days and times anyway. I have no clue what I will fix for tonight. I will have to go look in my freezer and see what I have and what I want to fix.

Well, guess that's about it for today. Everyone's blogs are looking so festive and so beautiful these days. I just love going and looking at them. Yall take care my friends and have a great Tuesday. May God Bless Each and Everyone of You. If it's cold where you live, bundle up and stay warm. My coffee sure taste's good on this cold morning here.

LOVE & HUGS,

Good morning to you, friend Karen,
How great to have your hubby home every night this week. It sure makes you thankful to have him home when he is gone so much, doesn't it. Mine was gone a lot before he retired so I know how thrilled you all are when you have the extra time together.
It's not nearly as cold out here in West Texas as it is there...it's 6 AM here and 44 degrees. The wind has been blowing quite a lot tho and that is always a bad thing!!
Stay warm and enjoy your day...oh, and when you can, I need that buttermilk cornbread recipe. It may be just like mine except I don't use buttermilk...it sure does sound REALLY good, tho!!
hugs, bj

Mornin' Karen!!!

Oooooooooo, would my hubby like some of that cornbread. It's one of his favorites. All the time. I think the man could live off cornbread. Just like your hubby.

Sometimes, I think leftovers taste BETTER than the first time served. Especially Italian food.

So, hubby and I will be there in a jiffy....for some of your cooking. [giggles]

Good mornin' Karen. You make me soooooooo hungry when I come over here. You must cook all the time. You're a good wife and mother.
Thanks for the tip on the candle giveaway. I don't think I've been on that blog yet.
We are still expecting some snow tomorrow, one to three inches. We'll see.
Have a fabulous day!

Karen,

Thanks for letting us all know about the candle giveaway. It looks like fun.

Glad that your hubby is going to be home every night this week. It's hard for truckers when they're away all the time and it's especially hard for their families. Feed him lots of your good homestyle cooking. He'll enjoy it.

Take care, Karen and enjoy your time with him.

Blessings,
mary

You probably know that I'm in "don't like leftovers" category. I try to not cook any more than we'll eat at one sitting unless I'm going to freeze it for later or to use in another recipe.

Don't know what's on the agenda today. Cecil hasn't called me yet so I don't know what she wants to do today. I do know I'm getting hungry!

Have a good day, Karen. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Good morning Karen! Wow, can't believe you are in the mist of that chaotic whether we see on the news on TV. I would not like to be there; or to live in a place that cold. I’m sort of a sunshine flower :) always thirst for sunny days and warm weather. Here where I live, in the NW, is pretty cold too, although not as bad as where you are. In any case, it does the heart good to think positive, positive thoughts bring happiness to our lives regardless the weather....

Please enter me in the drawing. I love candles.

Have a blessed warm day…

Cielo

I was just here and left a nice comment and Google pulled a booger!!!

Anyhow...as I was sayin'.....

We are expecting what they call an "Alberta Clipper" weather wise this evening...starting at 7pm we could get 1-3 inches of snow....

I'm sittin' here full as a tick...for lunch I made a pot of black eyed peas with salt pork and a skillet of corn bread...I feel so full I feel more like napping instead of bloggin', but here I is...if this comment doesn't go through this time, I will take a nap...lol!

Have a warm and happy day!
You make me smile! =)

We've having up and down weather this week, too. It's 67 today with lots of wind. Really cold earlier in the week.

I'm not sure where the term came from, but at our church our pastor started "hanging of the greens" about 5 years ago. It's the first Sunday evening of advent, and it's when we officially light the tree, learn about what the traditions mean, sing lots of songs, set up the nativity, officially kick off advent for our church, then have goodies and spiced cider afterward. Really special night. It's a bit different every year. I'd love to know what others do.

I just found the exact Hanging of the Greens program that our church used this year on the internet. You can find it here:

Good to see you today, Karen! Good to hear you're keeping warm. Our weather is a little warmer today. I was able to get things watered and put in some daffodils for spring in the yard today. Back to the ol' drawing board!
God bless -
Chrissie

We love left overs too!! We eat them until they are gone and if they last too long, the dog gets them. Not much wasted over here! LOL

Since I've never had cornbread, I'll just HAVE to go over to your place and taste yours!! hehe I WISH!! Cornbread is not something you hear of around here and I've never seen it served in restaurants. I'm guessing it's a "southern" dish?

I was gone shopping today and oh boy, I should have never worn my high heel boots, my feet were killing me by the time I got home! They're very comfortable but not when shopping for 6 hours! lol I did manage to make a good start on the Christmas gifts so yeaaaaaaa me! hehe

How wonderful that your hubby has been home nights this week...I can well imagine how much you and the girls miss him when he's on the road.

Thank you for letting us know about the candle giveaway, will have to go check it out:-)

Take care dear friend, love you! xoxo
