Good Thursday Afternoon Yall,
I hope everyone is having a good Thursday. It started out a cold morning here but has warmed up to 59 degrees now. The wind was blowing this morning and it made it feel colder than it was yesterday morning. It is suppose to warm up again by the weekend getting up to near 70 degrees and then rain again Monday and Tuesday. I am doing alot better today. I think I am about over my cold. The way this weather is, warm one day and cold the next, no wonder everyone is sick.
Well, we finished up the leftovers of white beans with bacon, bar-b-qued pork chops, and cornbread last night for supper. It sure was good. I don't know what I will fix for tonight. My landlord is suppose to be here at 4:00p.m. and change out my kitchen sink faucet. It has been leaking for a while, but has gotten worse. Hubby called him the other day and told him about it and he said he would be here this afternoon. We may have sandwiches, just depends on how long it takes him to change it out.
Nothing exciting has been going on here the last couple of days. My oldest daughter has basketball practice tonight and my youngest daughter has cheerleading practice after school today. Hubby is getting to be home at night for the rest of the week. He started hauling cotton today from Senath, MO to Memphis, TN. He will be off this weekend. He will probably have to leave out Monday morning tho. I love it when he is at home every night. Just makes me feel more safe and secure.
I have been visiting in blogland before I posted on here. I see where everyone is getting in the Christmas mood. I told one of my blog friends on her site earlier that when I was a little girl, my mother wanted to do something like she used to do when she was a little girl. So, we went out on a ditchbank and got a bare tree. It didn't have any leaves or anything, just the bare branches. We brought it home and put it in the tree stand and made homemade decorations for it. We made paper chains and popped popcorn and put it on the tree. There were other homemade decorations, but my memory can't remember everything that far back. LOL. It was an unusual tree. Everyone that came by just loved it. The local paper even had a write up and picture of it in the paper. She took some pictures of it herself, but I have no idea where they are at. Just thought I would share that with yall. It's not something that I would do for my girls. We have always had an artificial tree since I have been married. We used to decorate the outside and well as the inside. I have a couple of villages. I don't know what we are going to do this year. When we moved, I gave alot of my wood decorations for the yard to one of my husband's aunt.
Well, guess I'll go for now. Just thought I would post something. I hope everyone has a great Thursday and God Bless You all.

Hey, Karen, to move your signature or any other picture, just right click on it and hold, then drag to where you want it to appear. Just remember when you upload the picture to blogger to check either left, right or center because after it's uploaded you can't change where it will go that way.
We used to make white paper snowflakes by folding and cutting the paper with scissors, and some people strung cranberries or other berries to put on their trees. Also some made ornaments from cinnamon sticks and pine cones among other things.
Hope you got your faucet fixed in time to cook supper tonight. I'm grilling some cheap steaks for me and the kids, and we're having salad and canned corn for the rest of the meal.

I so loved reading your memories of that little bare tree you and your mom had gotten and then decorated with homemade decorations:-) I remember making paper garlands, stringing popcorn and making snowflakes with paper...sometimes I wish we could go back to these much simpler days. I can well imagine how much you're loving having your hubby home at nights this week. Your memory of the little tree reminded me of when I was first married and Dh and my oldest girl ( she was only 14 months) in the bitter cold winter of 1983 went to a pasture and cut down a little wild cedar tree. I often think of that time. What a sweet memeory that is for you...and those homemade decorations are the very best. Popcorn chains and paper chains. I remember making those and eating most of the popcorn! lol Your villages sound so pretty! Your white beans and bacon sound yummy! My mom would cook white navy beans with a ham and onions and slow cook in chicken broth and I was in heaven! The after-effects ( gas) were not the best though! Have a wonderful weekend my friend! Glad you're doing a lot better. Hope you got the faucet fixed. What a sweet story about the littled bare Christmas tree. My granddaughters will be here for Thanksgiving, and they usually put up my tree and decorate it. We go to the cedar woods and cut down a little red cedar for it. Since they are city girls, they love to do this.
