I got this from mailto:Mary@Mary. I thought I would give it a try. This is my first Meme. I did have to have my dear friend and interior blogging decorator to help me with it. If you want to participate feel free to do it.
1. Christmas is Love. (Fill in the blank with ONE WORD)
2. In memories, what was the best part of your Christmases past?
I would have to say that the best part of Christmases past would be a couple of years ago when hubby was out on the road. We had gotten a big snow here and I didn't think he was going to be able to make it home for our Christmas Eve Gatherings. He took his time and he made it home Christmas Eve Day. I was so happy. That was all I was wanting for Christmas that year. My Christmas Wish came true to me that year. PRAISE GOD!!!!
3. Was Santa ever good to you? (Describe how and what)
Hmmm, well now I do believe that Santa is good to me everyday. Santa is gone all week to bring home money so we can pay bills. If we ever have any extra, then Santa takes real good of Momma!!!! He may get me a piece of jewlery or an outfit if Santa can afford it. I try not to break Santa's Bank. LOL.
4. Do you open gifts Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or both?
In the past we have opened gifts on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This year is going to be different tho. There will be no gifts for adults at our house this year. The only gifts will be for the girls. Times have been very hard on us this year.
5. Is there something you make each and every year? (Craft or Recipe)
Well I always have had to make my homemade Chicken and Dressing for one of our family gatherings at my In-Laws. No one can make it and they always tell me mine is the best.
6. What is your favorite five (5) Christmas songs/hymns?
1. I'll Be Home for Christmas
2. Silent Night, Holy Night
3. Mary Did You Know
4. Hark the Herald Angels Sing
5. Away in a Manger
7. Is there a new tradition for Christmas since your childhood days?
Well yes. I am now a married woman and have children of my own. Our family tradition is that on Thanksgiving Night, Hubby and our girls sets up the tree and decorate it together. That is quality time for Daddy and Girls.
8. Describe one of your Christmas trips. (whether it's across town or across country)
Well, I remember that year that hubby almost didn't make it home. When he did make it home, we had to go to my parents house on Christmas Eve afternoon. It is 12 miles to my parents house. We had the big snow a couple of days before and the roads were still iced and snow covered pretty bad. I have never driven on stuff like that. I drove halfway there and had to stop and let hubby drive. I just couldn't handle it. But I did tell hubby how to drive for the rest of the way there and on the way back home later.
9. Do you have a special Christmas outfit to wear for the day?
I used to wear sweat outfits that my Mother had decorated with Christmas Material. Now, it's just whatever I have clean. I'm not fancy. I'm a elastic waste and T-Shirt kind of gal.
10. Have YOU or any of your family members sat on Santa's lap?
I sit on Santa's lap everytime he is home!!!! It's been a couple of years since the girls have sat on Santa's lap. They are at that age where believing is becoming more of a question of "ARE YALL SANTA"?
11. What will/or will be on your Christmas Tree this year?
We have multi-colored lights, blue lights, multi-colored chasing lights, multi-colored star at the top, blue and silver balls, blue and silver icicles and garland, some wooden decorations. I don't want to sound mean, but I'm doing the Christmas Tour of Homes this year, and I don't want to give everything away here. LOL. But you can kind of get the picture.
12. Do you/or have you decorated your yard for Christmas?
We used to decorate our yard big-time while we were buying our house. But this year, since we have lost our house, where we have moved to doesn't have a very big yard anyway. We are not planning on decorating the outside. The girls are wanting to put some lights around the edge of the house and around the poles in front of the house, but they yet have to talk their daddy into doing that.
So, this is a little bit about what Christmas is here in my neck of the woods. I do hope you will go over to Hootin' Anni's and join in the fun. I have enjoyed doing this.
I would like to apologize to Pea for the incorrect blog site on my post this morning. Blogger was being naughty. Doesn't look like blogger is getting anything from Santa this year. LOL. Here is a banner and you can join in the fun at mailto:Pea@Pea. Yall be sure to go over and join in the fun.Okay, I am really starting to get upset here. It should say: mailto:Pea@Pea Corner. I don't know why it is doing what it is doing above. Oh well, I guess that is blogger for ya.

Yall be sure and go over there and all you have to do is just leave a comment. She said you don't even have to have a blog. You have until November 30th to enter. Here is a banner for that as well:
Okay, I think I'm done for the day.

Hello Karen and thank you for the awards.
Reading your answers to the 12 quwstions of Christmas gave me a peek at the Karen behind the computer. You are a sweetie.
It also brought back some memories of my own Christmasses. Thank you.
I saw Pea's chocolates too. My goodness, do they ever look delicious! I used to make a lot of candy and cookies for the holidays when I had the five kids at hopme, but now it's just me as my children are grown and gone. My baby is 38. I spend Christmas day with my children and love it.
Karen,
I loved reading your Christmas meme and how wonderful that hubby made it home that one year even though the roads were bad. I come from a long line of truckers and it has to be pretty bad for them not to make it.
I'm so sorry that you have had such a tough year. I went through the same thing in 1992. You will make it though. God is good and will provide all of your needs. Keep your eyes heavenward, my friend.
Blessings,
Mary
I loved reading your memories about Christmas!!
Like Mary and You I have been through this too!! After the kids Dad left in 1979 I lost everything and it was hard for a while! Well, for a long while!
God got me through this!
I have a new post but Kelly is using the computer all day again tomorrow so I better go say Hi to some more of my friends!! Love and Hugs, Grams
Hi, Karen! You're a busy lady! It's so neat to see all you do. God bless your hubby on the ice and your daughter at the basketball game - I'll be praying! Thank you for the awards! I'm so blessed to have friends like you!
Also, thanks soooo much for the encouragement! I've done quite a bit on my gourds, and I can't wait to show what I've done. I've been gone these last couple days to visit my sisters, and I'm so glad I did. We were able to help each other out of some ruts, and get us moving along with projects. It's always so much fun to do things with loved ones!
Take care, dear friend!
Chrissie
Glad you got your meme done, Karen. Sometime I'll have to call you and walk you through how to copy, pasted, highlight and delete text. It's easy to do, just kind of hard to explain by messenger, LOL! ;o)
I'm planning on riding the Sr. Citizen's van to Jonesboro Thursday morning. I need to return something to Office Max and then go to Walmart.
Have a good Thursday!
Love and hugs,
Diane
Hi Karen,
Love your answers to the Christmas meme. What a lucky gal you are, having Santa living at your house!
I think I will do the Christmas meme as well, to get me more into the spirit of Christmas.
Thank you for passing on the awards.
Take care and keep enjoying your family.
God bless!
Renie
I loved reading your meme. I am going to do it, too, probably tomorrow (Friday).
Your sweet spirit always starts my day off good and I appreciate that about you, Karen. No matter what is going on in your life, you are always "smiling"...I can just see it thru my computer screen. I am so glad to have met you!
hugs, bj
Karen, thanks for sharing a little bit more about yourself with your Christmas meme. I might do this meme, but I don't know when. Just when I have time, between the homework, housework, "mommywork", blogging,...need I say more? ;) (THough some of that isn't really "work". :) )
Take care. God bless. That was cute that your hubby is Santa. :)
I enjoyed reading your answers...I'm an elastic waist kinda gal myself...lol!!
Have a great day! =)
Hi! I saw your link at Nan's blog and that you did my Christmas meme...so, naturally I had to drop by and read your answers.
You did a fantastic job.
I'm gonna add your url link to the growing list of participants!!
[ps...nice to meet you]
Dearest Karen,
I so enjoyed reading your answers to this fun Christmas meme that Anni has come up with! I want to do this one also and hopefully I can work on it this weekend and post it on Monday. No matter how tough times have been for you, you have such a positive attitude and sweet soul...that's what I love about you:-)
Thank you for the heads up ont the giveaway at Bittersweet Punkin...will make my way there now:-)
Love & Hugs xoxox
I had to LOL on #8! And Santa sound like he treats you real well. ;-)
My special Christmas outfit is the same as yours! Whatever's clean.
Sounds like you and your family know how to celebrate what's important. I enjoyed your answer to No. 2 especially.
Mine's up at http://slcthoughts.blogspot.com
I enjoyed reading your MeMe Karen. It sounds as if you've had a hard year, but it also sounds as if you're rising above it. I loved your remarks about telling your husband how to drive and being a t-shirt and elastic waist kind of girl. I must admit, I fit into that category too.
Have a truly beautiful Christmas.
